Hasheneer
Overview
Hashneer is a Bitcoin-themed top-down shooter with roguelite elements, built in Godot 4. Players navigate through levels fighting enemies while collecting Bitcoin and fiat currency to upgrade their abilities, weapons, and skills. The game features a unique economic system that simulates real-world concepts of inflation and deflation, impacting the in-game economy.
Game Objective
The primary objective is to progress through levels by defeating waves of enemies, mining Bitcoin blocks, and eventually facing and defeating bosses. As you advance, you'll earn currency to upgrade your character, unlock new weapons, and develop abilities that help you tackle increasingly difficult challenges.
Core Features
Combat System
- Dynamic Shooting Mechanics: Control a character that can move and shoot in all directions
- Weapon Variety: Multiple weapons with unique properties including pistols, shotguns, rifles, and more exotic options
- Bullet Patterns: Various firing patterns such as single shot, spread, circle, spiral, star, and more
- Enemy Types: Face different enemy types including basic enemies, charging enemies that rush at you, and powerful bosses with unique attack patterns
Bitcoin Economy
- Dual Currency System: Earn both Bitcoin and fiat currency through gameplay
- Mining Mechanics: Complete levels to "mine" Bitcoin blocks and receive block rewards
- Economic Simulation: Experience the effects of inflation (fiat) and deflation (Bitcoin) as you progress
- Strategic Spending: Choose whether to spend volatile fiat currency or more stable Bitcoin for upgrades
Progression System
- Skill Tree: Unlock and upgrade abilities through an (not so) extensive skill tree
- Stat Improvements: Enhance your health, speed, and damage output
- Weapon Unlocks: Discover and unlock new weapons with different capabilities
- Abilities: Gain special abilities like Block Core Finder, Magnet, and Health Regeneration (just these abilities available at the moment).
Level Design
- Multiple Game Modes: Experience different gameplay in Waves mode (fighting enemy waves) and Mining mode.
- Boss Encounters: Face challenging boss fights that require strategy and skill
- Level Selection: Choose from progressively unlocked levels with increasing difficulty
Visual and Audio
- Fracturing Enemies: Enemies break apart when damaged using polygon-based fracturing system
- Visual Effects: Dynamic effects for weapon firing, enemy deaths, and player actions
- Procedural Backgrounds: Visually interesting shader-based backgrounds
- Adaptive Audio: Contextual music and sound effects that respond to gameplay situations
Unique Elements
The game stands out with its Bitcoin theme and economic mechanics that mirror real-world concepts. As you progress through "halvings," Bitcoin rewards decrease while fiat inflation increases, creating interesting dynamics for upgrade purchases and resource management. The polygon-based enemy fracturing system provides satisfying visual feedback when defeating enemies.
Note: Game in beta, will contain bugs (a lot probably), and for the moment there are only 11 levels and few upgrades but I plan to add more in the future.
